    Position: Chase Chair for Excellence in Strategy and Professor of Management and Human Resources

    The Department of Management and Human Resources, Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University, is searching for a distinguished scholar for the Chase Chair for Excellence in Strategy. This is a full-time, tenure track appointment, to begin autumn semester 2019. Candidates must have an outstanding record of scholarly accomplishment and have demonstrated leadership ability. The holder of the Chase Chair will be expected to produce high quality research, be involved in collaborative research efforts with other faculty and PhD students, and provide leadership in research, teaching, and service both within the college and within the field of strategy.

    Ph.D. (or equivalent) is required, as is a distinguished publication record that places the candidate among the leaders in the field. Teaching and service records must also be at the highest level. The Fisher College is not currently committed to any particular area of research, theory, or methodological approach and is open to applications from any scholar asking research questions that are at the core of the strategy field. Salary and teaching load are highly competitive and are commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications.

  • Corporate Strategy/Sustainability - Discovery Themes

    Position: Tenure Track Faculty in Corporate Sustainability and Competitive Advantage

    The Department of Management and Human Resources, Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University, is seeking applicants for a faculty appointment in strategic management with interests and expertise in the area of corporate sustainability. This will be a full-time, tenure track appointment, to begin autumn semester 2019. Research, teaching, and service responsibilities required. Competitive salary and teaching load with other major research institutions. Applicants with a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in hand are preferred. Rank is open, although we have a preference for candidates with some experience and record of scholarly research. A publication record commensurate with experience is an important hiring criterion.

    Corporate sustainability emphasizes creation of competitive advantage and long-term shareholder value by embracing opportunities and managing risks deriving from economic, environmental and social developments.     This position is partially funded by Ohio State's Discovery Themes Initiative, a significant faculty hiring investment in key thematic areas in which the university can build on its culture of academic collaboration to make a global impact.     The Department of Management and Human Resources in the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University is seeking applicants for a faculty appointment in Strategic Management with interests and expertise in the area of Social Entrepreneurship. This will be a full-time, tenure track appointment, to begin fall semester 2019 with research, teaching, and service responsibilities.     The ideal candidate will conduct impactful research in the area of social entrepreneurship with an emphasis on fostering innovations that improve food security. Social entrepreneurship emphasizes efforts to maximize social benefits subject to business’ rules and government constraints. Whereas traditional views of entrepreneurship may be concerned with the maximization of competitive advantage, growth, or profit subject to society’s rules, social entrepreneurs seek to maximize social benefit subject to business' rules that require minimum levels of competitive advantage, cash flow, or profit. Applying theory and evidence from social entrepreneurship promises to help society achieve equitable and sustainable food production, distribution and access, particularly in disadvantaged communities. Preferred qualifications include evidence of involvement in successful interdisciplinary research teams and experience mentoring members of underrepresented groups.

A continuing commitment to enhance our world class Human Resources group implies that applicants will need to be able to apply the most up-to-date theories and methods to address critical research questions in their chosen field of HR study, with an eye towards publishing this work in the most respected research journals in Human Resources and related disciplines. The Fisher College is not currently committed to any particular area of research, theory, or methodological approach but open to applications from any scholar asking research questions that are important and at the core of the Human Resources field. In terms of teaching, a world class Human Resources group implies that faculty will be skilled at translating their own research and the research of their colleagues to the classroom setting. We are interested in candidates who are willing and capable of teaching a HR seminar in our Ph.D. program as well as classes to Master’s students (Fisher has a strong MHRM program) and undergrad HR majors in one or more HR areas including Compensation and Rewards, Strategic HRM, Staffing, Labor Relations, International HR, Training & Development, Performance Management, HR Analytics, Talent Management, and Research Methods.
