Background

Birsel Tavukcu Pirim joined the Finance department at Fisher College of Business, The Ohio State University, in 2012. Before coming to OSU, she taught at Yeditepe University from 2010 to 2012 and at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign from 2007-2010, and University of Mississippi from 2000 to 2006. She has taught courses in Investments, Corporate Finance, Financial Institutions, Options and Futures, and Derivatives during her career, and currently teaches Advanced Investments to undergraduate and Derivatives II to graduate programs at OSU. Additionally, she teaches seminar classes to Finance Honor Students. Her primary area of research examines financial markets and the trading of securities commonly referred to as market microstructure research.

BUSFIN 7232 - Derivatives Valuation and Application
Advanced derivatives course covering the Black-Scholes valuation model with applications to financial instruments and other areas of financial engineering. Prereq: MBA 6223; or prereq or concur: BusFin 7210, 7220, or 7230; or enrollment in SMB-Finance program.
BUSFIN 4229 - Advanced Investments
This course explores the valuation of forwards, options, forward-based, and option-based financial instruments. While a student may have studied options and/or forwards in other courses, this course examines in detail the analytical methods used to price these securities, and the analytical analysis of arbitrage, hedging, and speculation using these securities. Prereq: 4211, 4221, and BusMHR 2291 or 2292. Not open to students with credit for or currently enrolled in 4219 or 4239.

BUSFIN 4998 - Undergraduate Research in Finance
Undergraduate research in finance for non-honors students. Prereq: BusAdm 2291 (499), and Jr standing, and permission of instructor. Repeatable to a maximum of 12 cr hrs or 4 completions. This course is progress graded.
