Background

Jeff Rice joined the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University as Director of Graduate Career Services in 1993, and was named Executive Director of the Office of Career Management in 1995.  In his position, Jeff manages a team consisting of seventeen full-time professionals and twelve graduate assistants.  The Office of Career Management provides comprehensive job seeking services to 7,400 undergraduate and 650 graduate students seeking internships or full-time post graduate positions.  On campus and virtual recruiting services are also provided to hundreds of corporations on an annual basis.  Through a variety of best-in-class career preparation programs, recruiting venues, and job search skill development offerings, the Fisher College is annually among the top business schools in the U.S. in terms of students employed within three months of graduation.  In addition, Jeff was named Associate to the Dean for Staff Professional Development in 2016, where he provides leadership in the development and implementation of annual professional development opportunities for 200 staff members at the Fisher College.

 

Prior to arriving at the Fisher College, Jeff was an Assistant Director in the career services office at the University of Notre Dame, and previously Director of Career Development at Aquinas College.  Jeff earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Wooster and a Master of Arts degree in educational administration from Michigan State University.

 

An active participant in career management nationally, Jeff has served on commissions for the National Association of Colleges and Employers, chaired numerous committees for the MBA Career Services and Employer Alliance (MBA CSEA), and served as a consultant to the recruiting organizations of numerous corporations as well as several colleges and universities.  He served two terms as President of the MBA CSEA from 2005-2007, an international organization of over 800 professionals within either the career management function of MBA programs or the MBA recruiting function at corporations.  In 2010, he received the prestigious MBA CSEA Significant Contribution Service Award.  A recognized expert in college recruiting practices, career management, the college recruitment job market, and salary negotiations, Jeff has been featured in numerous articles in Bloomberg Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, U.S. News and World Report, The New York Times, Forbes, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Time Magazine, The Chicago Tribune and the Financial Times.  He has also been a guest on The Early Show (CBS News); the College Network (Fox News); and the Ohio News Network (ONN).

 

Jeff is a past member of the Board of Trustees for Easter Seals of Central and Southeast Ohio, a past Trustee of the Columbus Rotary Foundation, and serves on the Advisory Board for the National Middle Market Center at Fisher College.  He is a frequent consultant to workforce development initiatives throughout Ohio.
