j.sonnettJim Sonnett is a senior innovation, R&D and strategy executive with extensive experience and achievements in developing new products, new services and innovation ecosystems across a broad range of markets and technologies. He also has expertise in technology commercialization and works closely with the venture community.

Jim is currently the Vice President, Science and Technology, of the Health and Life Science Global Business at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio. Battelle is the world’s largest independent R&D organization. During his thirteen years at Battelle, Jim has led numerous highly successful efforts to develop and market leading edge offerings in areas that range from nanomaterials to vaccine safety testing.

Prior to joining Battelle, Jim had a 19 year career in industry. He led new business, product development and commercialization organizations at DuPont and W. L. Gore (makers of Gore-Tex®).

Jim received a Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. in Chemical Engineering respectively from the University of Delaware, University of Massachusetts and University of Virginia.

He is an avid cyclist, husband of many years and proud father of two college age children.
