Fisher Winter Games: 2012

Friday, January 13, 2012 marked the date of the annual Fisher Winter Games where students from all programs competed against each other as well as the staff/faculty team.  Sports for Winter Games this year included  badminton, basketball, volleyball and dodgeball.  The SMF did not win the tournament overall, but managed to clinch an SMF badminton win.  Note, two SMF teams were in the finals!  Fisher Games is one of the most popular events for Fisher graduate students as it features sports, food, and embarrassing faculty members (all in good fun, of course).  I am looking forward to repeat badminton championship next year!

Offices Closed, Celebrate King’s Dream

Hi, everyone.

I want to let everyone know that The Ohio State University (including the Fisher College of Business) will be closed on Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.   Columbus and Ohio State will  be honoring Dr. King, Jr.’s legacy and I encourage you to do so, too!

Fisher/OSU will re-open on January 17th.

SMF: The First Days of the First Class!

Wow, we have been busy in the land of the Buckeyes!  SMF started their Pre-Term and have been running for a whole week now.  Since orientation last Wednesday, SMF students have gone to two workshops, attended four classes, done team building activities and got a private tour of Ohio Stadium!  School will not officially start until next week- but we have broken a lot of ground.

SMF has a great mix of faculty teaching the core courses and we are all anticipating a fabulous year!  We are excited for sessions with industry experts and  networking opportunities in the upcoming weeks.

If you would like to be considered for the next outstanding class of the SMF program, go to: to apply.  Applications are out and we are waiting to hear from you!

Check out the photos below!  For more photos, check out our facebook page.  Enjoy the rest of the week and GO BUCKS!

The Fisher College of Business Graduate Programs Office (GPO) receives postcards from students, staff and alumni every day. Every year, we receive postcards from ALL OVER THE WORLD!  While all of you SMF students are out exploring the globe, send the GPO a postcard to say, “hello.”  2108 Neil Avenue, 100 Gerlach Hall, Columbus, OH 43210.  We cannot wait to hear from you soon!

Fisher Spring Games

Twice a year, Fisher students, staff and faculty face off in some friendly competition to see which group is the most “athletic.”  Here are some photos from the most recent Fisher Spring Games.  This year, the MBA Class ’11 won their spot on the coveted Fisher Briefcase.  Watch out Fisher, I anticipate the SMF sweep next year!

The Art of Moving to Columbus

Lucky enough to be an SMF Buckeye and now wondering where you should live?  Eve  Wendzicki (current Fisher MBA student) paints  a fantastic picture in her blog post about moving to Columbus!

Drawing upon upcoming events, Columbus will be hosting its 50th Arts Festival this weekend.  This free event is sure to make an artful impression!

UTSAV was everything it promised to be: colorful outfits, great music and amazing dancing!  Check out my saree!  For more pictures on UTSAV (and other events), be sure to check out the OSU Fisher Graduate Student Life Flickr Page.  We are constantly updating the page with all fun Fisher events!

In an earlier post, I mentioned that on Thursday, May 19th,  Fisher will be celebrating UTSAV!  I am elated to be part of the event and I am super excited for the beautiful costume I will be wearing in the annual fashion show.  Tomorrow, I will be representing the region of “Rajasthan.”  I put in a preview of what my get-up will look like and the beautiful saree I will wear.  Wish me luck!
