Driving Growth through Research

Initial Research conducted by the National Center for the Middle Market has shown that the US Middle Market is made up of almost 200,000 companies with annual revenues between $10 million and $1 billion. If the Middle Market were a country, its GDP would rank it as the fourth largest economy in the world.

Not only is the middle market driving growth, it is adding jobs. Between 2007 and 2010, middle market companies that survived the recessionary period added more than two million jobs, while large businesses shed almost four million.

Each year, the National Center for the Middle Market takes grant requests and awards funding to research proposals that are aimed to bring awareness to the Middle Market. The goal for this research is to help provide this drastically under-studied and underestimated segment with the necessary information for continued growth.
