My Fisher Internship
My First Week at Cardinal Health

Written by:

Hi everyone!

My name is Jennah Kannard and I will be a senior in the fall. This summer, I will be working as a marketing intern at Cardinal Health in Dublin, Ohio. This will be my first internship, so I look forward to sharing my experiences and advice with other Fisher students through the course of the summer.

Cardinal Health is a Fortune 21 company and distributor of pharmaceuticals and medical products. As a marketing intern, I will be working with the Retail Independent Marketing Team, helping to plan Cardinal’s annual pharmaceutical trade show that will take place in Seattle in August.

I have completed the first two weeks of my internship and, boy, do I have a lot to share already! I was lucky enough to travel to Washington, D.C. last week with my team to shoot a promotional video for the 2014 trade show. I will be traveling to Denver, Colorado next week for a conference. I am excited to share more about my trip in the next post!

Here’s some advice that I received going into my internship that has turned out to be really helpful during my first two weeks:

1) To be nervous and overwhelmed during your first couple of days is normal. You are in a completely new place with tons of new people and a lot to learn. Don’t forget that employees will not expect you to know everything off the bat. That being said, be positive, open to learning experiences, and ready for hard work.

2) Capitalize on every opportunity! Your internship will be what you make of it. It is likely that the summer will fly by before you know it, so ask your manager to include you in as much as possible–meetings, projects, even travel. You would be surprised at how willing people are to include and teach interns.

3) Be friendly and meet as many people as you can!

More to come next week,

Jennah
