My Fisher Internship
Time for an Introduction

Written by:

Hello, my name is Paul Erney and I am pursuing a BSBA in Finance, which I will finish up in autumn semester of 2014. I was born in Pickerington, Ohio just outside of Columbus, but spent most of my life growing up in Stow, Ohio in the northeastern part of the state. In terms of extracurricular involvement, I serve as the Director of Internal Relations for Undergraduate Finance Association, Treasurer for Buckeye Barbell Club and Risk Manager for Sigma Pi Fraternity. I am also an avid golfer and racquetball player, and I love to cook and lift weights.

This summer I will be interning at Univar, a global chemical distributor based in Redmond, Washington. I will be located at their Twinsburg, Ohio facility, and my working title will be “Rotational Intern”. During each week of this unique ten week program I will work in a different department or area of the company, which is an excellent opportunity for me to see how a large and complex company such as Univar does business as well as learn how each department is interconnected with each other.

My goals during my summer internship are simple: learn as much as I can, network with as many employees as possible and prepare myself for working full time in a professional environment. The opportunity I have at Univar is second to none, and I intend to do my best and apply what I have learned thus far at Ohio State to my internship.

I hope you enjoy reading what I have to say as this summer goes on and I progress through my internship as well as make new memories in northeast Ohio, and I also hope you get a better idea of what life is like as an intern and how you should work to pursue one as well. After all, who knows what will come next!
