My Fisher Internship
A little about me…

Written by:

Last day of finals.  Not to mention last minute laundry, packing, and 18 library materials to return.  Tomorrow I leave for New York City.  This summer, I will be the Development Intern with The Metropolitan Opera Guild.

As a double major in flute performance and accounting, I am very excited to spend the summer at Lincoln Center learning as much as possible about funding for non-profit organizations, which seems like a perfect marriage of my degrees.

Fun fact: I know nothing about mass transit.  However, I did download the NYC Subway app today.  Finding my way around…that’s this weekend’s project…

It should be a rewarding summer and an exciting new adventure for me as I have spent exactly four days of my life in New York City on a chaperoned high school music trip.  (Doesn’t count.)  And considering that I am from the village of Spring Green, Wisconsin (Population: 1,444), this should be an interesting change of pace.  As Van Morrison sings, ”It ain’t large enough to be a town.”

I hope you will all enjoy reading about my adventures that will start in just a couple of days!  Have a great summer, everyone!

Good luck in NYC and learning the subway system! Keep us updated on your work and adventures in NYC and at the Metropolitan Opera Guild.

    Hi Erin,

Be careful with the NYC subway system. That’s the only thing I want to say to you. My friend used his iphone on the sub and literally the other guy just grabbed it and took off. So don’t ever ever use your expensive stuff in NYU subway.
