That's me!

Hi everyone!  My name is Lauren Acton, and I’m a third year dual degree student, majoring in Marketing in the Fisher College of Business and Strategic Communication in the College of Arts and Sciences.

I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio (eastsider, if that means anything to you!) and graduated from a Catholic, all girls high school called Saint Ursula Academy, so when I got to Ohio State, it was a huge change!  To make Ohio State seem a little smaller, I got involved in activities such as the FYE Leadership Collaborative and the Honors Contract.

This summer, I’ll be participating in my fourth internship.  As a sophomore, I was a Marketing and Administrative Intern in the Ohio Union during the school year, and an Event Planning Intern with the Cincinnati Reds (go reds!) the following summer.  This year, I was a Partnership Marketing Intern with the Columbus Blue Jackets.  So, if you couldn’t tell, I love sports!!

I was hoping to return to intern with the Cincinnati Reds this summer because it was such a wonderful experience.  However, they were unable to rehire me, so my search began! I began with small marketing firms in the Columbus and Cincinnati areas, and also networked with my past supervisors.  After a few weeks of searching I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and apply for big companies like Nike, Procter and Gamble, and Time Inc.  I had a few interviews and a few declines, but finally all my hard work paid off!

Time Life Building - my office is in here!

This summer, I will be a Time Inc. Consumer Marketing and Sales Intern, specifically with Sports Illustrated.  I’ll be working on their digital content, which includes,, and  I’ll be located in New York City and am beyond excited – I’ve never even visited NYC, let alone lived there!  So please, if you have any fun ideas of things to do, let me know!
