Introducing Emily Martin

For my first blog post, I am going to tell you a little about myself.

  • I grew up in Circleville, OH (home of the Pumpkin Show)
  • I went to Otterbein College, now Otterbein University- class of 2009
  • I have my Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations
  • I have been out of school for 3 years
  • I love running
  • I love dogs
I am also a doing the MLHR/MHRM program part-time. I work full time at American Electric Power. Not only do I have to get used to being a student again, but this time around I am shuffling work and school work. Finding time to study at work is very limited, so far I have put in late nights, but I know the harder I work the more it will pay off in the end.

My decision to apply to OSU in this program came after reading the student blogs and doing research on the program. The blogs helped me realized Fisher is the place I needed to be. Knowing the MLHR/MHRM program in one of the top HR programs in the country, well, that didn’t hurt either.

I want to go into HR because it is important to me to work in a position where I can help people and serve as the “go-to” person. I want to be a leader and in charge.

Until next time

-Emily
