Hello!?!
Being stubborn (and thick-skinned) definitely has its perks.
For the past month, I have been cold calling different companies as part of a market research project I am doing for my internship. I have left my name and number in so many voice mails and talked to a lot of people (nice and otherwise) that I think I can now register as a “professional receptionist”.
One of the people I contacted was a trade organization that I hoped could send out my online survey to all their members. I finally got a contact after leaving several voice messages and moved to email. However, she does not really respond to my emails so I still call their office since I have a tight schedule for the project (it ends when I leave). Anyway, I called today and she told me that “I received your email but did not read it.”
I did not think much of the statement until I mentioned it to my boss. He said, “What a way to tell you that you’re not important to them.”
I don’t know what that statement means but they did say they were "willing to help". So, I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt and pester them until I get what I need. I’ll use my “I’m a student and need your help” card like crazy while I can. It has been pretty useful thus far.
I hope everyone’s internships are going great! I’ll see you all back in Fisher this September.
