Today I had an interview for a scholarship sponsored by HRACO. It went really well. One of the questions they asked was about what I was was proud of the most. Looking back on the last few years and the other interviews I've had which have asked similar questions, I can definitely tell that I've grown up (at least more than I was when I started college). before my answers have been a state award I've won or a national trip where I was selected to represent Ohio. But today, the only blunder I had in my interview was asking if what I was most proud of had to be something I had done. They were confused by my question, so I answered it by saying the thing that I was most proud of myself for having done. What my true answer would be is that I am 1) most proud of my fiance and the the accomplishments he's made this year in college. He has turned an honorary fraternity into one that actually functions, been nominated for 2 fellowships for next year when he starts his graduate degree and many other things along the way and 2) my mom, for taking the initiative to go back to school to get her PhD and reversely putting it on hold when her boss asked her to take on more responsibility.
It just surprises me how much my priorities have changed in a few short years when I was convinced that I was 'so grown up' and 'so mature' when I graduated high school. The rest of the interview went really well, and when they asked me if there was anything else I wanted to tell them, I said that it has taken me several years to figure out what I want to do with my life, and now that I know, I'm very excited for the future and can't wait to start a career and hopefully make a difference.
So I have two questions: What are you most proud of that either you have done or have witnessed/helped someone else accomplish? Is there a moment where you can identify that you finally figured out what you want to do with your life?
