HR Executives Highlight First MLHR Summit
Master in Labor and Human Resources (MLHR) students put the emphasis on “labor” during the 2010-11 academic year. The Graduate Human Resources Association (GHRA) created, managed, and organized two inaugural programs.

In addition to launching the program’s first internal case competition and obtaining sponsorship and support from Whirlpool Corporation, the GHRA held the organization’s first summit. The April event attracted area human resources executives, not only as keynote speakers but also as attendees. Students had the opportunity to network with human resource executives from central Ohio.

Keynote speakers included Brain Worth, senior vice president, Cardinal Health; Candice Barnhardt, chief diversity officer, Nationwide; Gale V. King, executive vice president and chief administrative officer, Nationwide; and Steve Russell, senior vice president and chief people officer, McDonald’s Corporation.

The theme of the summit was “Fast Forward: The Trends That Will Change The Way You Do Business.” Topics included emerging trends in technology, diversity, and inclusion as well as health and wellness programming at area companies.
