Students Immerse Themselves in Emerging Market

Offered through the International Programs Office, the Emerging Markets Field Study (EMFS) course gave 26 MBA students the opportunity to explore the business environment in Brazil.

The EMFS class was taught simultaneously with student and faculty participants from a partner university in Brazil. In addition to course work, each Fisher student was assigned a consulting project with a company working in Brazil. Teams of American and Brazilian students then collaborated to address real-life problems and had the opportunity to present their findings to management during their in-country immersion over spring break.

“One of the values of the course was getting exposure to the business environment within Brazil, one of the top three emerging markets in the world. . . There would be no way to do this from the classroom alone.”

Megan Sliwa, student in the MBA for Working Professionals program
