Partnership Benefits Students, Agricultural Companies

A new partnership between Fisher and the Ohio Department of Agriculture is helping small and midsize companies increase their export sales by providing much-needed personnel and data.

Established during the 2010-2011 academic year, the Export Fellows Program paired Ohio agricultural companies with Fisher MBA students who served as export specialists.

Students attended biweekly meetings with their client companies to discuss challenges as well as provide knowledge of local, state, and federal resources available to new exporters.

The comprehensive internship program, which utilized resources of the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) and the Office of Career Management at Fisher, benefitted participating companies in a number of ways, including:

  • Strategic analysis to identify export challenges
  • Market research to expand export opportunities
  • Participation in Fisher’s agricultural export seminars
