Diversity Awards Celebrates Excellence

The Diversity Awards program, organized by Fisher’s Office of Minority Student Services and leaders from 12 student organizations, held its annual celebration of excellence in May 2011 at the Blackwell.

Fisher alumnus Jesse Tyson received the Individual Diversity Award for his support of the National Black MBA Association’s Leaders of Tomorrow program. He also established a scholarship grant fund in honor of his mentor, Dr. Frank W. Hale, Jr., former assistant to the president of Ohio State.

“Diversity is the key which unlocks the potential for different perspectives to be realized, understood, and expressed. It drives innovation, creativity, and imagination. The efforts of those who value, appreciate, support, sponsor, and champion diversity initiatives haven’t gone in vain. For over 10 years, the Diversity Awards program has been a venue for recognizing the dedication of outstanding corporations, alumni, community supporters, and student leaders.”

David Harrison, director of the Office of Minority Student Services

The corporate award was given to Abbott Nutrition for its involvement with Fisher student organizations, including the Asian Business Student Association, Hispanic Business Student Association, and the National Association of Black Accountants.
