Media Manager
Do you have large groups of photos, graphics or other media that you need to share with your students? Carmen’s Media Manager could be the tool for you.
Developed in the College of Arts, the Media Manager allows users to share digital files over the web without the need for complex database programming. These files could be photos, video clips, PowerPoint presentations or even zip archived files.
You create your own collections online using the Media Manager and these collections can be linked into your Carmen courses. These collections can be set-up to be protected using password protection, too.
Media Manager also allows faculty to access and use other collections already in Media Manager in your course (provided you have permission or the collection is set-up for open use).

Online Resources
Ideas in Practice
Many feel that online learning is about students taking an entire course online, but many successful courses use what is called a hybrid approach – combining the strength of face-to-face teaching with online delivery methods.
The link below will take you to an interesting article that discusses the evolving technique of hybrid learning

Fair Use and Copyright What materials can you use in your online course? Knowing what you can or shouldn’t use in your online course in terms of copyright can be a real gray area when you factor in the doctrine of Fair Use which is a part of U.S and international copyright law. The doctrine of Fair Use, while being somewhat vague, definitely provides advantages for use of materials for education.
So, how do you decide what is covered under Fair Use? Here are four factors that you can use as guidelines:
PURPOSE – non-profit, educational use makes using the work easier
NATURE – Using works of fact rather than works of fiction makes it easier to use
AMOUNT – Using less of a work makes it easier than using larger portions or a work in its entirety. You also need to take into account that you shouldn’t use the “heart” of the work also.
EFFECT (on the market) – You have to consider how your use will affect the potential market for the owner of the works
The library has a useful site on getting help with copyright at the following link:
