Title: Predicting the Decisiion-aiding Value of Decision Research
Authors: Rex

Status: working paper
Decision-making generally needs improvement. The potential of decision aids to bridge the gap has not been realized. The aiding art is still primitive. Advances must rely on practitioner experience. Little research is being done that could further the art, because researchers are motivated to do what is scientifically attractive, rather than useful. They also need to be accountable (or get credit) for the usefulness of their research. So the impact of research on decision practice must be evaluated, but inexpensively. A decision theoretic measure is proposed to help evaluate, compare and prioritize projects.
