The Honors Cohort focuses on business enrichment by providing an extraordinary opportunity to develop leadership, presentation and team building skills through experiential learning and community service.

  • An emphasis on ethical decision making and corporate social responsibility as we research the practices of organizations throughout the world
  • An introduction to business leaders and their roles through guest speakers and on
    site visits
  • Identification and discussion of current business issues
  • Service learning through community volunteer service
  • The development of team building, leadership skills as well as presentation and written communication skills
  • The creation of a network of future business, community service and social colleagues

Curriculum

In the Honors Cohort Program, 30 business students take the following classes together during their junior year.  

  • BUSML 3250H (Marketing)
  • BUSMGT 3230H (Operations Management)
  • BUSMHR 3200H (Organizational Behavior)
  • BUSADM 3890H (Honors Seminar). This seminar class meets both semester of the cohort class's junior year.
  • BUSFIN 4210H and 4212H (Corporate Finance I and II)
  • BUSMHR 4490H.  This class is scheduled during the fall semester of the cohort class's senior year.

*Students cannot complete these courses in advance to be considered as applicants for the Honors Cohort Program.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate with Honors in Business Administration, students in the Honors Cohort Program must complete each of the following:

Completion of Honors Cohort Curriculum

Complete the seven (7) courses in the curriculum and at least two (2) additional honors courses for a total of nine (9) honors courses. Additionally, each student must maintain at least an overall 3.5 GPA and a 3.5 in his/her major area of study. 

Completion of Volunteer Hours

Complete thirty (30) hours of service-learning volunteer community service during their junior year.

Completion of Final Paper

Submit a ten (10) page paper on either their internship or study abroad experience, or complete a comprehensive research thesis prior to graduation. This paper must be submitted after the completion of the BUSMHR 4490H class and no later than 21 days prior to your graduation date.
