Funding

Available Funding for Student Organizations

The Graduate Programs Office (GPO) will provide financial support for student organization events that foster community and promote professional development at Fisher. Limited funding is available through the GPO to subsidize qualifying events through the GPO fund and the Graduate Student Activity Fund (GSAF), which is administered by the Fisher Graduate Student Association.

GPO Funding

Funding is available by request from the Graduate Programs Office. The amount varies from $100-$400 per student organization per year ($400 for organizations with active status by 10/15/09, $100 for those organizations who acheive active status after the October deadline).

Graduate Student Activity Fund (GSAF)

Unlike the GPO funds which have a fixed allocation, GSAF funds are determined on an event by event basis by the FGSA (Fisher Graduate Student Association). Funds are allocated on a quarterly basis (twice for fall quarter), and the process consists of an application process and an informal interview.

How to request funds:

The student organization must complete the following steps to access funds from both funding sources.

  1. The student organization must complete and submit a Student Activity Funding Request Form to Kaylin Ward during the 8th week the quarter prior to the event (specific dates listed in the chart below). The budget summary on the Request Form will need to give a detailed description and accurate quote, and cannot be rounded up figures. Please note the funding source on the request form (ie., GPO vs. GSAF funds). To be considered for funding, the organization must be in active status with Fisher. This includes a bulletin board on the 2nd floor of Gerlach Hall, a current website, and registration through the SOURCE.
  2. If request is for GSAF funds only, at least one member from the organization will need to sign up for an interview time during the 9th week the quarter prior to discuss the proposal with the FGSA. If the group will only be using GPO funds, an interview is not required, and the group will be notified by Kaylin Ward of the final allotment.
  3. Following the GSAF interviews, the FGSA will notify the group of the allocation for the event. The request will then be sent to the GPO for final approval, to ensure that the funding request is in compliance with all University policies. You will be notified by the GPO of final approval.

See the table below for specific deadlines related to funding allocations. Students can also review the Guidelines for GSAF funds to learn more about the application process, funding restrictions, allocations, and more.

How to request reimbursement:

At the conclusion of the event, the student organization will need to submit the Student Activity Follow-Up Form, and original, itemized receipts to Kaylin Ward in the Graduate Programs Office to receive a student contribution. The group will also need to provide a list of attendants at the event. Please note that this paperwork must be submitted within 30 days of the conclusion of the event, or the funding will not be provided.
