Personal & Group Network Drives
Personal Network Drive
Every Fisher faculty, staff, and student has access to a personal network drive. This personal space is accessible from any computer lab PC, classroom podium PC, office PC, or personal laptop connected to the Fisher network. Files are stored on redundant file servers and backed-up nightly.
When you login to a computer lab PC, classroom podium PC, or office PC that is joined to the Active Directory domain, your personal network drive will be automatically connected and assigned to the U: drive.
Group Network Drive
Every Fisher service and academic department and center has a group network drive. This group space is accessible from any classroom podium PC or office PC, or personal laptop connected to the Fisher network. Files are stored on redundant file servers and backed-up nightly.
Each faculty or staff member has access to their respective department or center group network drive. Individual access to group network drive resources is controlled by IT Services. Permission to access a group network drive should be directed to the Helpdesk.
When you login to a classroom podium PC or office PC that is joined to the Active Directory domain, your personal group drive will be automatically connected and typically assigned to the V: drive.
Accessing Your Network Drives from a Laptop
To access your personal or group network drives from a laptop connected to the Fisher network, follow the instructions below for the appropriate operating system.

- Click on the
Desktopto bringFinderto the front. - Click the
Gomenu. - Select the
Connect to Server...menu item. - In the
Server Address:box, typecifs://FQDN/share$whereFQDNis the file server host and domain name andshareis the name of the file share (followed by a$character). - Click the
plus (+)button to add the server to the list ofFavorite Servers. - Click to select the server from the
Favorite Serverslist and click theConnectbutton. - If it's the first time connecting to the server, enter the domain (
AD), your Fisher username (lastname_#), and password. NOTE: If you have a strong password assigned to your computer login account, then click to select theRemember this password in my keychaincheckbox. - The share should open in a new
Finderwindow, and the share will appear on theDesktoplike a local drive or disk.
