Howard J. KleinProfessor of Management & Human Resources
EducationPhD, Michigan State University BiographyProfessor Klein's research interests center on improving individual and team performance through the use of selection, socialization, commitment, goal setting, performance management, and training. Klein has authored more than 30 articles and book chapters and has made over 45 presentations at scholarly conferences on these and other topics. His research has been published in outlets including the Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Industrial Relations, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Personnel Psychology. Klein has received awards for his research, teaching and service. He teaches courses in recruitment and hiring, training and development, introductory human resource management, and research methods at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. Klein serves on several editorial review boards including the Human Resources Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Journal of Organizational Behavior. He also serves on the executive committee for the Human Resources Division of the Academyof Management, serves on the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Foundation's board of directors, and is the founder and site coordinator for the Human Resources Instructional eXchange, a web-based clearinghouse for teaching and learning about human resource management.
