Senior Lecturer, Finance
Howard P. Zitsman joins the Department of Finance as a senior lecturer. He spent the last three years serving as senior capital markets specialist at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in Washington, D.C. At the FDIC, Zitsman was a member of the Dodd-Frank implementation team within the Office of Complex Financial Institutions.
Zitsman was an adjunct professor of finance at The Ohio State University between 1991 and 1998. As an adjunct professor, Zitsman taught courses on the valuation of financial instruments, focusing on options, futures, debt, equity, and compound securities.
He earned his MBA (finance) from Ohio State and his BS (economics, psychology) from Macalester College. Zitsman completed doctoral work in finance and economics at New York University and Ohio State.
Zitsman is the co-founder of THG Corporate Finance, an investment banking firm based in Columbus, Ohio. He served as firm president from 1988 to 2006 and from 2009 to 2010. In this role, Zitsman was heavily involved in managing the investment bank as well as providing financial and valuation advice to many central Ohio companies. In addition to his work with THG Corporate Finance and the FDIC, Zitsman has also worked for several Wall Street firms, including Ladenburg Thalmann & Co., Drexel Burnham Lambert, and Lazard Freres & Co. On Wall Street, Zitsman specialized in financial institutions, and restructuring.
In his new senior lecturer position, Zitsman will teach courses in restructuring and on capstone case studies.
