Sophia Hamm joined the Department of Accounting and Management Information Systems in 2010 as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Accounting. She arrived from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business where she taught introductory financial accounting and received her Ph.D. in Accounting. Prior to her doctoral work, Sophia worked as a consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers in South Korea. At the Fisher College of Business, she teaches intermediate financial accounting.

Sophia’s primary research interests include the role of accounting reporting in the capital markets, information intermediaries, information asymmetry and cost of capital, index trading and investors, and earnings management. Her research has been published in the Journal of Accounting Research. She has served as an ad-hoc reviewer for The Accounting Review and the Journal of Accounting and Economics.
