Biography
Anne L. Beatty has been appointed the Deloitte and Touche Professor of Accounting. Professor Beatty’s research has been published in a number of journals, including The Accounting Review, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, the Journal of Accounting Research and the Journal of Financial Economics. Her research focuses on the importance of accounting in debt contracting and bank capital regulation. She is also an expert in the economic effects of accounting.
Before joining Fisher College, Professor Beatty taught financial accounting and empirical financial accounting research at Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business. She also taught at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and at The University of Illinois. Beatty’s PhD students hold faculty positions at Harvard, MIT and Michigan State.
Professor Beatty serves on numerous editorial boards. She received a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an MBA and BA at the University of Chicago.
