General Business Major
Fisher offers the General Business Major for students who would like to major in business at one of Ohio State's regional campuses. The innovative program provides students with flexibility by combining distance-learning technologies with traditional classroom instruction. The majority of the courses required for the General Business Major include general education and prerequisite courses that are taught in traditional classroom format. The 13 upper level classes are taught in a blended format of online instruction and classroom activities. The course material is developed and taught by leading faculty from Fisher's top 20 nationally ranked undergraduate program.
The format of the General Business Major allows you to reduce your in-class time by delivering course material via the Internet. Online portions of courses may include lecture notes, video clips, slides with audio instruction, self-tests, live discussions, group projects and grades. Your business course experience may include class meetings, as appropriate. This time can be used for discussions, case analysis, homework review, group presentations, quizzes and tests.
Courses delivered to the general campuses are designed to be equivalent to those offered on main campus. However, there are some differences in form because the General Business Major program will be offered partly online and partly in the classroom.
Typical courses will include one 2 hour "recitation" meeting per week at each regional campus. This session would be facilitated by a TA and might include case discussions, quizzes and exams, or group presentations.
The 13 courses comprising the General Business Major are designed to reduce on-campus time by delivering course content via the Internet.
In general, the online portion of courses could include text lecture notes, video clips, slides with audio instruction, self-tests, quizzes, synchronous and asynchronous discussions, student presentations, and grades.
To access online course materials, students will need access to the Internet using a recent version of a standard browser, either Internet Explorer or Netscape.
