Welcome to Fisher College of Business!
I am pleased to welcome you to your College and to a wide range of exciting opportunities. If last year was any indication of what will happen this year, I promise you tons of productive fun.
The student leaders at Fisher have put forth their untiring efforts during the last academic year and elevated the status of many programs significantly. The Fisher Citizenship Program, which was started two years ago in an effort to encourage first year students to become active participants in Fisher’s student organizations, is now a vibrant and recognized program that has caught the attention of several companies that recruit here. Fisher Ink, the student produced magazine, is entering its third year and boasts better layout and content than ever before. The new products course has been piloted and will be offered as a year-long course this year. Students in this course conceive of an idea, do the necessary market research, and work with design students to build a prototype of the product. Our Entrepreneurship minor is attracting more and more students from all over the campus.
Innovations in coursework have also been received well by students. Three courses in particular (Personal selling, Six Sigma, Stock trading) will be offered again because of the high demand we have experienced in our first offering. Companies that recruit here have told us that they value students who have training in these areas.
As more and more students are taking advantage of these innovations, we will continue to offer exciting programs, innovations, and courses that will make your stay at Fisher enjoyable and your career rewarding. Please follow all of our communications so you will know about these opportunities and can take advantage of them. Your academic advisors are always your first stop for any questions you may have. Please make sure that you are in touch with them. Also, take advantage of the peer advisors who are very well tuned into the various events at Fisher and who will be working with you throughout the first year.
