Distinction

Fisher College of Business Seniors with serious academic research interests have the opportunity to pursue a traditional format year-long research project with a faculty advisor culminating in a major paper and oral defense. Honors students in the Fisher College of Business who are interested in pursuing undergraduate research and graduating with distinction in their specialization must meet the following conditions:

  1. Earn a cumulative point-hour ratio of atleast 3.50.
  2. Secure a faculty advisor to oversee the research project and to chair the thesis committee.
  3. Engage in a program of research that culminates in a thesis and oral defense.
  4. Register for a minimum of 9 hours of graded coursework (over a 3-quarter period) and maintain a 3.65 minimum GPA in this coursework.
  5. Successfully defend the research project and results before a faculty committee chaired by the thesis advisor.
  6. Present the research project at the Denman Research Forum.
  7. Students who meet the above criteria will have "with distinction in (specialization)" inscribed on the diploma.
