Admissions
The following information applies only to those who are enrolled as Ohio State students. If you have not applied to The Ohio State University, please fill out the OSU application to the right. You MUST be enrolled at The Ohio State University before applying to Fisher College.
Direct Enrollment Criteria
- New autumn-entry first quarter freshmen only
- Minimum ACT composite score of 30 or SAT combined score of 1340; and
- Graduation in the upper 10 percent of high school class; or
- Admission to the university with Honors status
Criteria for Pre-major Admission
Students new to Ohio State who are not eligible for direct admission to a business major specialization will be admitted to the Max M. Fisher College of Business pre-major program if they meet any one of the two following criteria:
- New quarter freshman (25 ACT or 1150 SAT or top 20% of high school class)
- New transfer students (3.0 GPA* on all non-technical course work completed at all previously attended colleges)
Continuing Ohio State students will be admitted to the pre-major program if they meet the following criteria:
- 3.0 GPA* on all non-technical course work completed at all attended colleges AND completion of Math 130 or 148 (and prerequisites) or equivalents with C— or better AND at least 15 cumulative OSU hours
Criteria for Degree Candidacy
Application for acceptance to degree candidacy and major in the Fisher College of Business may be submitted when any one set of the three following criteria are met:
Requirements for application with a grade point average of 3.4 or better.
- Minimum MERGED 3.40 cumulative point-hour ratio; and
- Normal progress in the required sequence of mathematics courses (completion of Math 131 or 151 or equivalent and prerequisites with a grade of C- or better)
Requirements for application with a grade point average of 3.0 or better.
- Completion of 45 credit hours of course work;
- Minimum MERGED 3.00 cumulative point-hour ratio;
- Completion of English 110 with a grade of C- or better; and
- Completion of Math 131 and 132 or 152 or equivalent and prerequisites with grades of C- or better

Selection of an area of specialization from among the fields available in accounting and business administration
Requirements for application with a grade point average of less than 3.0. *
- Completion of Math 131 and 132, 151 and 152 or equivalents and prerequisites with grades of C- or better
- Completion of English 110 or equivalent, Economics 200 and 201, Accounting & MIS 211 and 212, and Computer and Information Science 200 or equivalent with grades of C- or better
- Selection of area of specialization from among the fields available in accounting and business administration
*While students meeting the 3.0 GPA or higher admission criteria will be admitted, based on current enrollments it is not anticipated that students will be admitted for Spring Quarter 2007 and forward with less than a 3.00 GPA. Please consult with an Academic Counselor in the College of Business for the most current admissions requirements.
Quarters of Admission and Application Deadlines
Current Ohio State students may apply to the Major Program for admission Autumn or Spring quarter by submitting our internal Business Specialization Application Form. Students are admitted in the Autumn and Spring Quarters only. Application deadlines are as follows:
Autumn Quarter Application Deadline: June 1
Spring Quarter Application Deadline: December 1
Applications reviewed for admission to the Business Administration major are concurrently reviewed competitively for admission to the area of specialization.
Students who are admitted to the Business Administration major who do not meet competitive admission standards for their chosen area of specialization will be accommodated in another area of specialization within the college.
