Gerlach Hall Room Reservation Policies
The Fisher College of Business Graduate Programs Office is dedicated to serving the needs of Fisher graduate students, faculty and staff. As part of this service, we strive to ensure that Gerlach Hall rooms are allocated in the most equitable manner. Accordingly, this web site has been created to facilitate the room reservation process. Descriptions of the rooms available in Gerlach Hall are available online.
If you are interested in reserving a Gerlach Hall room specifically for a program geared to College of Business graduate students or are a graduate student who wishes to reserve breakout space for academic or COB related activities, please completely fill out the Room Reservation Form and submit it electronically, via fax (292-9006) or by messenger to the GPO, care of Alisa McMahon. All applications will be reviewed and notification of your reservation status will be delivered to you within 24 hours of your request. Please note: Applications must be received at least 3 working days prior to the scheduled event.
Priorities for Breakout Room Use
- Program Activities scheduled by the GPO and Office of Career Management.
- Instructors utilizing the rooms for make-up exams.
- Fisher College of Business classroom use directed by faculty (includes group assignments and review sessions).
- Study groups and team meetings organized by at least 3 students.
- Other requests may be considered when rooms are available.
Usage Guidelines
Breakout room policies and procedures are designed to promote respect towards one another and the Fisher College of Business Community. Policies will be revised/updated as issues arise that need clarification.
- Rooms are reserved for groups of 3 or more people. Rooms will NOT be reserved for individual use. All reservations are void when only one person is present during a reserved time period.
- To improve the availability of rooms for students and reduce the amount of wasted scheduled time, we have certain policies to follow. Rooms can be scheduled up to three weeks in advance at a time. Also, in order to have a better chance at securing rooms please schedule your room two days in advance. When you send in an online request you will receive a confirmation if a room that meets your request is available. If you do not have a room reserved please do not use one! If you would like to secure a room, you must first contact the GPO.
- A team is defined as three or more students working together on a project for class. In order to assure that teams have the opportunity to use the breakout rooms as needed, please have one member of your team be in charge of scheduling for the team. Teams will be able to schedule rooms for up to 3 hours per day. The three-hour per day limit applies to all groups using the rooms. Please do not have more than one member of any team reserve additional time, as there are many students to accommodate and only 13 breakout rooms to use. Remember, there are many other quiet places on campus to meet including libraries. If you are unable to reserve a room, the Mason Hall Business Library, Ohio State Main Library and the Engineering Library provide alternative options.
Reserving Breakout Room 254 with Phone:
This room has phone capabilities and as such student teams with projects that require phone access will be given first consideration. This does not include phone calls for interviews. Please contact the Office of Career Management (292-6024) for phone needs regarding the interview process and they will accommodate you as space is available.
The phone will need to be picked up from the GPO during regular business hours and returned upon completion of the allotted reservation time. A phone sign out sheet must be completed and the responsibility of returning the phone falls to the person that signed it out. In addition, a BUCK ID or driver's license must be left at the GPO when checking out the phone.
In the event that the room reservation extends past the regular GPO business hours, the phone is to be returned at the beginning of the next business day. The GPO office hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- Graduate students are expected to act in a professional and respectable manner in our facilities. When you must ask another group to vacate a room you reserved, please do so in a professional manner. If you have any further questions about the room reservation system, contact Alisa McMahon in the GPO.
