Combined Degree Program Overview
Overview
Joint Degree programs with other Ohio State programs offer you a way to combine credits and complete degrees more quickly. As a Fisher College student, you may pursue a MBA/JD degree offered with the College of Law, a MHA/MBA, which allows you to specialize in both business and health care administration, a MBA/MD degree that is offered jointly with the College of Medicine, and BSBA programs that allow well-qualified undergraduates to get a head start on their professional careers. The purpose of combined programs is to give outstanding students an opportunity to pursue simultaneously two degrees in different programs by reducing the amount of time normally required to complete both sets of degree requirements.
For all joint programs, candidates must be accepted to the MBA program while making other arrangements separately.
Joint Degree Programs
Whether you choose to practice law for the business community or want to pursue a career as a business person with legal training, you will profit from a greater understanding of both disciplines. Studies of international and domestic issues further promise to strengthen your marketability in today's global economy.
The College of Medicine and Public Health offers a four-year MD degree program. The first two years of the degree are spent in one of three learning pathways: lecture/discussion, problem-based learning or independent study. For the last two years of medical school, students participate in 4-8 week clinical and research rotations.
Most students will find that their needs can be met by either the MBA or the MHA alone, by using electives to pursue their individual objectives. However some students will find it an advantage to combine the breadth of the MBA with the industry focus of the MHA; this is particularly so at The Ohio State University, where both programs enjoy very strong national reputations.
A strength of the 3/2 Program is that it reduces the amount of redundant coursework normally experienced when the holder of a BSBA pursues an MBA at a major institution. The availability of the 3/2 Program provides some excellent educational and career advantages for participants.
