Program Content
After four years of offering a successful blended approach to Six Sigma Black Belt training, the Fisher College of Business is rolling up their sleeves to provide a quality driven Six Sigma Black Belt Certification to those who have completed the blended program through the Fisher College of Business. This rigorous certification process will include the following:
- A comprehensive four hour computer based exam that can be scheduled year-round with one-month’s notice.
- Two project reviews that include phone and e-mail interaction with a Fisher College of Business Six Sigma Black Belt Examiner
- A Six Sigma Black Belt certificate from The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business will be given upon completion of the computer based exam and the two project reviews.
- An individual seeking certification must complete process improvement projects of sufficient scope and complexity to demonstrate all five phases of the Six Sigma improvement process: Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control.
- Participants should plan to complete the entire certification process within 18-months of exam completion.
Additional Requirements
- A project charter must be submitted for evaluation prior to progressing with the project. The purpose of early submission is to establish that the project has the necessary scope to demonstrate learning, and to deliver significant bottom-line results. It may be acceptable to combine the elements of two different projects with smaller scope in order to meet the skill demonstration requirements.
- Complete project documentation is provided along with a signed affidavit from a champion involved in the process. Sensitive data can be modified in the interest of confidentiality.
- Must complete the four hour comprehensive exam with an overall score of 80% or better on all six sections.
Benefits of certification by the Fisher College of Business include:
- Additional opportunity to learn and improve Six Sigma skills
- Validation of knowledge base by an academic institution
- Certification backed by the highly-regarded Fisher College of Business and the Ohio State University
Retake/Cancellation Policy
- 1 exam reschedule permitted within the year and no more than two exam retakes in total
- A $200 exam retake fee will be assessed for each exam retake
- Must reschedule within a year of the start of the program or you will lose the entire program fee.
