ITS requires all Fisher-owned computers to be encrypted. All staff and most faculty computers are encrypted by PGP whole disk encryption and BitLocker.
Encryption helps protect your data in the event of loss or theft of the physical computer or drive; it is not a replacement for safe computing practices and may not protect your data against loss or theft due to virus activity or malware.
You should carefully consider what data is stored on your computer and the possible impact should any of that data be accessed by unauthorized users.
Further information on encryption can be found on the Buckeye Secure Website along with instructions for file encryption for Mac and PCs.
