Mobile Device Setup
You can synchronize your Fisher email with most hand-held devices. For instructions on configuring your hand-held, please click on your device type below
NOTE: The Palm Centro and the Palm 755p have known issues and will NOT synchronize with our mail server.
- Palm OS
Follow the below instructions for handhelds running the Palm Operating System, such as the Treo 700p, the Treo680p, and the Treo650p.
- From your Applications page, select Versamail
- Open the Accounts Setup screen by selecting Accounts and then Account Setup
- Select New to configure a new account
- In the Account Name field, enter a descriptive name, such as Fisher
- In the Mail Service field, select Exchange ActiveSync, then tap Next
- In the Username field, enter your Fisher username (lastname_#)
- In the Password field, enter your Fisher email password, then tap Next
- In the Email Address field, enter your Fisher email address (lastname_#@fisher.osu.edu)
- In the Mail Server field enter webmail.cob.ohio-state.edu, then tap Next
- Tap Advanced
- Under Incoming Server Settings , Port Number is 443 and Use Secure Connection (SSL) should be checked
- Tap Next
- There is no entry for Proxy Server
- Tap Done and then OK
- Tap Sync to synchronize your Fisher email
- Windows Mobile
Follow the below instructions to configure synchronization of a Windows Mobile handheld device with your Fisher email:
- Tap Start > Programs
- Select ActiveSync
- Press Menu and select Configure Server
- Enter the Exchange Server Address as webmail.cob.ohio-state.edu and verify that the This server requires an SSL connection box is checked and press Next
- In the Username field, enter your Fisher username (lastname_#)
- In the Password field, enter your Fisher password
- In the Domain field, enter AD and then tap Next
- Select the Outlook components you want to sync. Your choices are contacts, calendar, email, and tasks
- Tap Finish
- Tap Sync to synchronize your device with the Fisher Exchange Server
- For future synchronizations, tap Start > Programs > Activesync > Sync
- Some Windows Mobile devices require that a security certificate be loaded on them before synchronization can take place. If you get an error indicating that a security certificate is missing please contact our helpdesk at helpdesk@fisher.osu.edu or 292-8976 and we will assist you in loading this certificate.
- BlackBerry
Fisher College of Business has a Blackbery Enterprise Server for most faculty and staff. Others must use Blackberry Internet Service to synchronize their device with their Fisher email. Please follow these instructions to configure your Blackberry device for synchronization:
- In the Setup Wizard, choose Email Setup
- Select I want to create or add an email address and then choose Next
- Select Next again
- Enter the Username and Password associated with your Blackberry
- Under Services, select Email Accounts
- Select Add an email account
- In the Email address field, enter your Fisher email address (lastname_#@fisher.osu.edu)
- In the Password field, enter your Fisher email password
- At this point the Blackberry Internet Service is going to try to detect your email settings. It will fail. When it does, select I will provide the settings to add this email account , and then choose Next
- Again, you will receive an error message indicating that your setup failed
- When prompted to select the type of account you want to configure, choose Outlook Web Access
- In the Outlook Web Access URL field, enter https://webmail.cob.ohio-state.edu
- In the Username field, enter your Fisher username as ad\lastname_# . For example, if your username is jones_1, you would enter ad\jones_1 in this field
- In the Password field, enter your Fisher email password
- In the Email address field, enter your Fisher email address (lastname_#@fisher.osu.edu)
- In the Mailbox name field, enter your Fisher username (lastname_#)
- You should receive an email message indicating that your Blackberry has been successfully configured. Your Fisher email will begin synchronizing with your device within a few minutes.
- iPhone, iPad, and iTouch
Please follow these instructions to configure your device for synchronization:
- Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , and tap Add Account
- On the Add Account screen, tap Microsoft Exchange
- In the Email field enter your Fisher email address (lastname_#@fisher.osu.edu)
- In the Server field enter webmail.cob.ohio-state.edu
- In the Domain field enter AD
- In the Username field enter your Fisher username (lastname_#)
- In the Password field enter your Fisher password
- In the Description field, enter a description of your choice, such as Fisher
- Tap Next to proceed to the next screen
- On the next screen you may choose to synchronize mail, calendar, and contacts. After making your choices, tap Done .
- Synchronization will begin after you have configured the account and the device is able to communicate with the Fisher Exchange Server
- Android Phones
Please note that not all Android phones have the same exact settings. The instructions below are for a Droid Incredible. Other Android phones should be similar, though not exact. Please contact The Helpdesk for assistance.
If you have an Android phone, please follow these instructions to configure your device for synchronization:
- Go to Settings > Accounts & sync , and tap Add Account
- On the Add Account screen, tap Exchange ActiveSync
- In the Email field enter your Fisher email address (lastname_#@fisher.osu.edu)
- In the Server field enter webmail.cob.ohio-state.edu
- In the Domain field enter AD

- In the Password field enter your Fisher password
- The SSLcheckbox must be checked
- In the Description field, enter a description of your choice, such as Fisher
- Tap Next to proceed to the next screen
- On the next screen you may choose to synchronize mail, calendar, and contacts. After making your choices, tap Done .
- Synchronization will begin after you have configured the account and the device is able to communicate with the Fisher Exchange Server
