Office of Minority Student Services

The goals of the Max M. Fisher College of Business Office of Minority Student Services are to provide quality academic advising, counseling, scholarships, financial aid (need based), career services, and tutoring services which meet the needs of minority undergraduate and graduate students enrolled or intending to enroll in the college.

In addition, the office provides services and support internally to campus departments and organizations and externally to corporations, companies, and agencies which seek to help minority students succeed academically, financially, and socially.

Highlights

2012 Minority MBA Student Case Competition VIII

In 2005 KeyBank and Fisher College of Business established one of the nation's most recognized minority MBA case competitions. The annual competition, which is directed and administered by Fisher College of Business Office of Minority Student Services, allows competing teams to hone their business acumen and team building skills while learning from KeyBank executives.

The competition involves 16 to 20 teams each year from leading institutions.  To date, eight competitions have been held, involving over 475 students.

Winners for this year’s 2012 KeyBank Case competition are: 

  • 1st Place University of Washington
  • 2nd Place University of California, Los Angeles
  • 3rd Place Cleveland State University
  • 4th Place The Pennsylvania State University

2011 KeyBank Leadership and Creativity Undergraduate Student Symposium

The KeyBank Leadership and Creativity Undergraduate Student Symposium, presented by The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, was held from November 10, 2011 - November 13, 2011. The Symposium is now in its fourth year and was first started in October 2008. The symposium is the result of innovative thinking and generous funding by the KeyBank Foundation, Inc. The winning team received scholarships worth $9000, and the runners up received $4500. Participants also received participation allowances ranging from $200-$400. Read More >>

2011 Annual Fisher College of Business Diversity Awards Program - Above and Beyond

The 2011 Annual Diversity Awards Program was held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Blackwell Inn.  Corporations and Individuals were nominated for their contributions towards the College's diversity efforts.  This year, there were 11 individual nominees and 3 corporate nominees.  

The College’s Diversity Committee selects the overall annual award winners. Each year, the program also recognizes 12 diverse student organization presidents for their leadership throughout the year.  In addition, each of the 12 select diverse student organizations are also invited to recommend one or two students from each organization to receive recognition for their service and/or perseverance.

The Dow Chemical Company was the lead sponsor of the event and Fisher welcomed the Dow Chemical Company’s Jeff Tate, Global Finance Director, Performance Division and Dow Olympic Operations, as the keynote speaker for this year’s annual Diversity Award’s Program.  Read More>>
