Accounting Careers Awareness Program

Minority Services

ACAP-OHIO is an innovative career development program designed specifically for minority high school students. This week-long summer residency program was developed to give minority students an opportunity to explore careers in accounting and business.

During their stay on campus, students attend a variety of business and college preparatory workshops and are introduced to topics such as accounting, finance, economics, computer technology, and business management. ACAP is sponsored by the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), and the Ohio Society of CPA's in conjunction with the Fisher College of Business, host to the program for the past five years.

ACAP has successfully impacted program participants, who overwhelmingly choose to pursue business and accounting majors upon entering college. A 1999 survey of past participants revealed that 43% of respondents have chosen college majors in accounting and 20% plan to major in business or finance.
