What were your responsibilities?
I spent 3 of my weeks at Speedway SuperAmerica LLC's headquarters. My assignments for this audit included testing the following: examining billboard management, Dept. of Transportation signs, accounts payable activities, employee reimbursements, and verifying approval authorities.I wrote up an exception and made a recommendation based on my findings.

My duties as a 'South East Texas City Source Scheduler' is to schedule barrels of product (both gas and distillates) from Marathon's Texas City refinery to various points like our Pasadena terminal and pipelines. As a Texas City South East Scheduler, we are responsible for supplying the Midwest, which has the most activities (especially Chicago).

What was the most important thing you learned?

People do not seem to like having outside people come into their business and poke their heads around in financial statements and other parts of the business, so the more of a people person you are the more you might make the other company feel at ease. - Tom Mace, MIS

What is the most significant contribution you've made?
During one of my audits, I made a recommendation that could prevent the company from incurring financial loss in the future. I helped to ensure that sufficient controls were in place in order to protect the company's assets and prevent fraud.
