Why did you choose to intern with this company?
I chose to intern at GE Superabrasives because I had heard great things about the company and after interviewing I was really interested to learn more about the products the company makes and the way it operates. |
What were your responsibilities?
I completed several projects while at GE. I created over 20 Business Objects reports for the Sourcing department, evaluated and updated the Pull System an automatic kanban ordering system for over 700 raw materials, helped create an Excess Materials report for two types of products and had it scheduled to run daily and posted to the sales website, helped create a live target inventory bottling report scheduled to run weekly that was posted to the web, process mapped the flow of a product using Microsoft VISIO, and worked with the engineering team on several new product introductions where I worked in the GEMMS system with item formulas, routings, and bill of materials.
What was the most important thing you learned?
I was able to learn several new computer systems and get a better understanding of the types of jobs I may do with my major.
