The Fisher College of Business offers a variety of resources uniquely designed to support the career goals and objectives of the Working Professional MBA student. Whether you are looking to advance within your current company or make a switch to another company or functional area, Fisher offers the tools and resources to help facilitate your career success.
Career Consultation
Allison Jones is the WPMBA Career Consultant with the Office of Career Management, and she is available to meet in-person or through email, telephone or Skype. If you are engaging in a career transition or comprehensive job search, Allison is available to help you with resume and cover letter writing, interviewing skill development, networking, job search strategy development and more. Allison is regularly available between the hours of 8:00-5:00, but also offers early morning, evening and weekend appointments by request. You can schedule an appointment by contacting the Office of Career Management front desk at 614-292-6024.
Career Management News and Information
To keep you connected to the career events, career information and resources available, you will receive a twice-monthly WPMBA Career Management Newsletter as well as periodic emails through the WPMBA listserv about upcoming events and job postings.
Job Boards and Resume Databases:
FisherConnect is an on-line database of job openings that are posted by employers who are seeking Fisher graduate-level talent. Use FisherConnect to post your resume, find jobs and internships, sign up for on-campus interview schedules and see employer contacts and career fairs - all in one system.
MBAFocus is a comprehensive resume distribution service and job board. By registering and uploading your resume, MBAFocus member companies will have access to your resume. In addition, MBAFocus offers a job board that you may access on a regular basis as a complement to your other job search activities.
Career, Company and Industry On-Line Resources
Fisher invests in a variety of on-line resources designed to help graduate-level students with career, company and industry information. As you explore careers, consider various industries and prepare for interviews, use on-line resources such as CareerBeam, GoingGlobal, Hoover’s, Vault, WetFeet, and the Book of Lists.
Career and Networking Events
Fisher hosts and sponsors a variety of career and networking events throughout the academic year such as the Fisher Fall Career Fair, Graduate Student Networking and Recruiting Events and several others. Working Professional MBA students may also attend national diversity career conferences/job fairs as well as select additional career fairs that take place throughout the Ohio State campus.
Workshops
The Office of Career Management offers many career development workshops. Past presentations have covered topics on career advancement, managing career transitions, developing a professional brand, creating a career marketing plan, effectively using on-line resources, and developing a successful job search strategy. The Office of Career Management also collaborates with the WPMBA Council to offer various career-oriented workshops, such as Career Change Roundtable discussions. This database supplies comprehensive company, industry, and market information. It provides information on 12 million companies, with in-depth coverage of 40,000 of the world's top business enterprises.
