MBAs earn opportunity to pitch to Macy’s
A team of first-year MBA candidates at Fisher recently traveled to New York City to help a fashion giant solve an industry challenge: how to connect with and market to the millennial generation.
Derek Conliffe, Tara Schuler, Mark Steidler and Alexandra Torch took first place in the internal competition of the Macy’s Case Challenge at Fisher and earned the opportunity to present to a roomful of Macy’s executives, marketing agencies and peer MBA students from New York University, Northwestern University and the University of Southern California.
At the company’s New York headquarters on 34th Street, the team from Fisher pitched a cross-platform app that would provide millennial customers unprecedented access and engagement with the Macy’s brand and its offerings.
“The executives seemed pretty excited about our idea and asked a lot of questions,” Schuler said. “It was definitely valuable to turn the classroom learning we get here at Fisher into something that can be applied. … It was a great opportunity to show what Fisher has to offer and a chance to see how other schools compare and bring back some ideas to make Fisher even better.”
