Fisher senior lecturer Marc Ankerman, Department of Management and Human Resources, is one of just three inaugural recipients of the Ohio State’s Provost’s Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Lecturer.

Executive Vice President and Provost Joseph A. Alutto presented the award to Ankerman along with Fisher Dean Christine A. Poon and David Greenberger, chair of the Department of Management and Human Resources.

The award includes membership in the Academy of Teaching at Ohio State. Alutto said the three winning lecturers would be honored during half-time at a future Ohio State football game.

In addition to teaching in the MBA and MHRM programs, Ankerman serves as a faculty advisor and coach for case competitions. He also teaches in the Executive Education sessions for Management Certificate and Executive Communications.

“Marc makes me buy new cabinets, because he is the one responsible for filling up the old one with awards,” Poon said during the surprise presentation.

Greenberger nominated Ankerman for the award.  “Because of the need for his skill-set and just plain incredible competence, there is constant demand for Marc across all programs in the college,” Greenberger said. “Marc has been a member of our department for about 10 years and during this time has had an enormous impact on our students.”

Ankerman also received a nomination letter from James Walton, who graduated from the MBA for Working Professionals program last year.

“Marc gave a voice to so many students over the years,” Walton said. “That was an important part of our culture here at Fisher.”
