It was their way of giving back – again.

A group of young Fisher alumni came together in 2010 to create the Scholars for Service (S4S) scholarship to continue a legacy of honoring students who give back to the community. Each alum had received scholarship support at Fisher and had been heavily involved in service activities.

Today, the S4S fund has provided scholarships totaling $15,000 to undergraduate students who demonstrate a similar commitment to service.

“I think we all saw this scholarship as a way to continue what we had started at Fisher and ensure that future students had the same opportunities that we did,” said Tim Paridon, ’07, a founding member of the alumni group that established the S4S fund.

“Service is such an important part of the Fisher student experience.”

Current students who receive the scholarship must be members, or be willing to become members, of FisherCARES, an undergraduate student organization focused on service-oriented activities. All of the alumni who created S4S were part of student service organizations during their time at Fisher.

S4S co-founder Stephany Diyanni, ’08, acts as an adviser to FisherCARES and is often on campus to mentor students, encouraging them to be creative when applying their skills and passions to service. “Fisher and Ohio State have such a wealth of resources,” she said. “If you can think of it, chances are that there are others who can help you make it happen."
