Retail seminar highlights successful supply chain strategies

Three CEOs from Columbus’s most successful retailers, Express,  Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, and Watershed Distillery were joined by keynote speaker Harvard Business School Professor Ananth Raman, for a forum co-sponsored by the Initiative for Managing Services and Center for Operational Excellence at Fisher.

Greg LehmanThe forum, “Who Says Retailing Isn't Rocket Science? Achieving Out-of-This-World Results by Solving the Supply and Demand Dilemma,” examined the science of retailing with a focus on supply and demand. Raman, the keynote, is co-author of “The New Science of Retailing: How Analytics are Transforming the Supply Chain and Improving Performance.” Following Raman’s keynote, Michael Weiss, chairman and CEO of Express, presented the business view of supply chain from the retail clothing industry. The 2012 Fisher Alumni Award-Young Professional winner, Greg Lehman, co-founder and distiller of Watershed Distillery, also spoke on the panel.

John Lowe, CEO of Jeni’s and Mark Gallardo, director of retail intelligence at Teradata, and Lehman participated in a “Retailing Lab” panel discussion moderated by Rebecca Naylor, assistant professor of marketing at Fisher.

Lehman’s remarks at the forum, about the future strategy of Watershed, was the focus of a Columbus Business First article.
