Nine teams compete in the Fisher Invitational Case CompetitionPublished: 2012-04-19 For the 20th year, Fisher hosted the Fisher Invitational Case Competition April 13-15. Formerly the Big 10 Case Competition, nine Big Ten schools sent teams to compete in the competition, including Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue, Michigan State and Nebraska. The event was sponsored by GE Capital. Overall winning teams were, University of Iowa in first place; Purdue in second place and University of Minnesota took third place. Representing Fisher this year were first-year MBA students, Ryan Parker (captain), Emily Alvarez, Dan Brown, and Ross Holland. Marc Ankerman was the team coach. Ethan Allen provided the live case, challenging students to develop a plan to double their revenues and improve the bottom line. “This year represented our second competition with a live business case,” said Karen Wruck, associate dean for Graduate Programs. “GE Capital provided generous support in terms of both time and talent. After seeing the student presentations, GE Capital and Ethan Allen plan to work together on the implementation of many of the students’ ideas. “ The competition holds two rounds. In the first round, three sets of teams compete against one another with a winning team from each set progressing to the final round. Best individual presenter and best individual Q&A winners are also selected from each of the three groups of teams.
