Xiaoyan Deng, an assistant professor of marketing, receives 17 pairs of sneakers designed by her students. Nike partnered with Deng and her students for a study on consumer's color preferences. The sneakers were given to students who designed the shoes for their participation in the study.

Faculty, staff honored for service and teaching to undergraduate students
Seven Fisher faculty and staff members received awards for excellence in teaching and service. The awards ceremony and undergraduate student mixer were held Monday, Feb. 21. Dean Chris Poon presented the awards to the recipients.
Receiving awards were: Andrea Prud'homme, assistant professor of Management Sciences, Outstanding Service Award; David Harrison, executive director of Minority Student Services, Outstanding Staff Member Award; Jackie Elcik, executive director of the Undergraduate Programs and Advising Office, also received the Outstanding Staff Member Award. Outstanding Teacher awards were given to Tzachi Zach, Accounting & MIS; Rebecca Naylor, Marketing & Logistics, Dan Oglevee, Finance; and Terry Klinker, Management Sciences.

Allenby scores a triple-play in tier-one marketing journal
Greg Allenby (pictured right), the Helen C. Kurtz Chair in Marketing, had three research articles published in the January-February 2011 issue of Marketing Science, a top-tier journal for scholars in the field of marketing.
"This academic 'hat-trick' is a very rare occurrence in a top journal," said Walter Zinn, chair of the Department of Marketing and Logistics. "This type of achievement contributes to the overall reputation of Fisher."
Allenby's research focuses on the development and application of Bayesian statistical methods in marketing. All three articles use Bayesian modeling to examine various consumer preferences.
"My research deals with quantifying aspects of consumer behavior using data routinely collected by most organizations, and, more recently, its relationship to behavior prior to the purchase, outside the marketplace," Allenby said. Read
MBA candidate wins 2011 Chili Cook-off

Michael Pierce's Chili Madness captured the "Golden Spoon," in the Staff Advisory Council's sixth annual Chili Cook-Off. The event raised $274 for the Mid-Ohio Food Bank's Operation Feed. Pierce received a $25 Target gift certificate for winning the most votes in the competition.
Other contestants were Alisa McMahon, Jarvi Wen, Alison Merzel, Fred Macaraeg, Cecilia Shiroma, Jen Mercer, Ben Moore, Megan Dutton and Kevin Crowley. Jarvi Wen also provided homemade crème soda for the event.
