ONN, Ohio State partner with Fisher in business news television series, premiering March 31 |

ONN and Fisher has launched “Ohio Means Business,” a new half-hour program showcasing the companies and leaders reshaping Ohio’s business world. The program premiered on March 31, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.
Recent segments of the show are available online at ONN website.
“Ohio Means Business” provides a comprehensive look at how emerging and established industries are blending innovation, entrepreneurship, education and cutting-edge research to help Ohio excel in the new economy.
“Ohio Means Business” probes the tough issues facing Ohio’s economic future, with experts from both Ohio State and Fisher providing analysis and insights on research innovations. It will profile up and coming and established businesses leading the way in the new economy and offer an intriguing look at Ohio companies through dynamic interviews with chief executives and on-location features.
“Ohio Means Business” is hosted by veteran ONN Anchor Mike Kallmeyer. The show features insight from Ohio’s leading business experts, including Christine A. Poon, Dean and John W. Berry Sr., Chair in Business, and former Fortune 50 executive.

Fisher receives $1 million gift from Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Foundation

Fisher College of Business has received a $1 million gift to establish the Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation Professorship in Business, part of a $2 million gift from the foundation made to the university.
The Ohio State University Medical Center will receive $1 million to create two Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation funds for leukemia research and Lewy bodies’ dementia research.
"We are pleased to provide this support to Ohio State,” said Stephen G. Mehallis, chairman of the Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation (pictured above left twith Mangurian). “Our founder was a successful business leader who had a deep appreciation for both higher education and medical research. These gifts confirm his vision and commitment toward making a significant impact in each of these areas."
Mehallis received his bachelor’s degree in business from Ohio State in 1961 and hasserved as the chief financial officer of Mr. Mangurian’s ventures since 1972.

Fisher, Battelle team to assess market potential of Battelle technology innovations

Battelle and The Ohio State University share much more than proximity. The institutions’ shared mission of improving the world has resulted in a two-year agreement for the Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (TEC) Center at Fisher to assess the commercial and economic viability of innovative technology developed at Battelle.
Battelle’s National Security Global Business provides intellectual property (new innovations and inventions) to TEC to evaluate for commercialization potential. The event brought together scholars, students, venture capitalists, policymakers and practitioners to discuss market-based approaches to reducing poverty worldwide.

Fisher has partnered with the National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) for the 2010 Conference, themed as “Global Economy, Global Leadership.”
The conference will be held in Louisville Oct. 1-2. Dedicated to empowering women MBAs, NAWMBA’s gols are to propel women into leadership positions in corporate America and to enhance diversity of the nation’s workforce. MBA students win $50,000 in international marketing case competition

Beating such programs as Darmouth's Tuck, IESE-Barcelona and London Business School, a team of Fisher MBA students walked away with a $50,000 cash prize after winning first place in an international case competition at the 2010 Marketing Summit presented by the Wake Forest University Schools of Business.
Chad Stutz, one of the members of the winning team, said he walked into the competition with a great amount of confidence. "I think part of this was the education that we have received here at Fisher, both in the classroom and outside of it. I believe our team had a competitive advantage over the other teams because we knew each other so well, and I feel that this is primarily a result of the intimate nature of Fisher's program."
