Diversity Awards Program held on June 1

The corporate Diversity Award was given to Nationwide Insurance Corp. and Abbott Nutrition manager, Kamran Jamell, received the Individual Diversity Award this year

Fisher’s ninth annual Diversity Awards Program was held on Tuesday, June 1 at the Blackwell. Jamell, who was active with Fisher’s Hispanic Student Business Association since 2008, was instrumental facilitating Abbott Nutrition’s sponsorship for the organization’s activities, including the Soccer Classic.

During the 2009-10 school year, Nationwide Insurance “affinity groups” have reached out and networked with students from Fisher minority student groups. Nationwide’s Sisi Wu accepted the award on behalf of the company.

The awards program was organized by the Office of Minority Student Services and student leaders from the Asian Business Student Association; Black MBA Association; Chinese Business Professionals Association; Council of Black Student Association, Fisher Latino Graduate Association; Graduate Women in Business; Hispanic Business Student Association; Indian MBA Association; International Business Club; National Association of Black Accountants; Out in Business and Undergraduate Business Women’s Association.

The lead corporate sponsor was Abercrombie and Fitch. Todd Corley, senior vice president for diversity and inclusion at Abercrombie and Fitch, was the keynote speaker at the awards ceremony, held at the Blackwell Inn’s Overmyer Ballroom.
