Letter from the Director

This is a tremendously exciting time to be in the human resources profession!

Not too long ago, the HR manager was merely a behind-the-scenes administrator whose main function was to carry out policy set by leaders within the organization. Today's HR manager works at the forefront of organizations-counseling senior management on matters that ultimately influence organizational change and development strategy.

Companies are now realizing how essential it is to partner trained Master of Labor and Human Resources professionals with management. As a result, the MLHR degree is quickly becoming a requirement for success as an HR professional. As the generation of "baby boomers" matures, a significant number of HR professionals are also retiring, opening doors and opportunities for those entering the field. The demand for HR professionals has never been stronger.

Fisher’s MLHR program provides the fundamental building blocks needed to not only be successful but to meet the challenges that arise as a partner to management. Through your extensive MLHR course work, you will develop the critical analytical and strategic skills necessary to work effectively in any business environment, whether it is a large corporation or a small nonprofit. You will gain practical experience both inside and outside of the classroom through projects with some of the industry's top corporate leaders and organizations.

At Fisher, you will become an effective leader and change agent for your future organization, collaborating with a diverse group of professionals and renowned faculty experts. Our top-ranked business program is also geared toward working adults, so you have the option of being a full-time or part-time student.

Fisher College of Business is ranked among the top business schools in the nation in surveys conducted by U.S. News & World Report, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and Academy of Management Journal. Each year, Fisher MLHR students are actively sought after by many of the nation’s most prominent companies to fill internships and full-time career positions.

Embark upon the Fisher experience for yourself! As a result of your hard work in our MLHR program, you will become well prepared to have a very meaningful and rewarding career as an HR professional.
