Curriculum

The Master of Business Logistics Engineering (MBLE) program is a 41-credit-hour program. It includes courses in logistics and supply chain management, warehouse design, logistics technology, mathematical programming and computer simulation.

Students will take 12-15 credits per semester to complete the program in approximately 15 months.

As part of our experiential learning format, our students helped design supply chain solutions for companies.

English Language Mastery Requirements

International students are required to complete a written English placement test.  Based on an evaluation of a student’s written English, he or she may be required to take:

  • Education: Teaching and Learning (EDUTL)
  • Intermediate Intensive English as a Second Language
  • Advanced Intensive English as a Second Language, and/or
  • Academic Writing in English as a Second Language: Graduates. International students are expected to complete course work through EDUTL 108.02 within the first year of study.

This requirement will not be waived, and these courses must be taken in addition to the normal course load. Please note that because the MBLE program is short, international students placed into English classes should anticipate graduating according to the 15 month plan.

Fifteen courses are required for the Master of Business Logistics Engineering program.

Attendance to a series of seminars offered in the College of Engineering's Integrated Systems Engineering is also required. Each seminar is typically a two hour technical talk given by Ohio State faculty member or an invited faculty speaker.

  • ISE 5200: Linear Optimization (3.0 credits)
  • ISE 6300: Performance Modeling & Simulation (3.0 credits)
  • ISE 5430: Warehouse & Facility Design (3.0 credits)
  • ISE 5815: Lean Sigma Foundations (3.0 credits)
  • ISE 7250: Operations Research and Models (3.0 credits)
  • ISE 7882: Engineering Seminars (2.0 credits)

Three electives are required as a part of the Master of Business Logistics Engineering (MBLE) program. Students will select up to nine (9) credits from the below choices.  Note that not every course is offered every semester.  All electives must be reviewed with, and approved by, the MBLE Academic Advisor.

Accounting and Finance

Elective course credit for the MBLE program must include three (3) credits in accounting and finance:

  • AMIS 5000: Accounting and Cost Analysis (3.0 credits)
Operational

Choose two (2) courses equivalent to 6.0 credits from the following:

  • BUSMGT 7223: Project Management (3.0 credits)
  • BUSMGT 7232: Supply Chain Analytics (1.5 credits)
  • BUSMGT 7233: Global Sourcing (3.0 credits)
  • BUSMGT 7241: Lean Enterprise Leadership (1.5 credits)

  • ISE 6220: Network Optimization (3.0 credits)

The start of the first semester kicks off the core curriculum and the start of elective choices that align with a student's area of interest. An internship during the summer between spring and fall semesters will help further solidify what is learned in the classroom, before the final semester.
